Début janvier 1921, le tableau vient de rentrer de l’exposition de Venise, où il a figuré. FG rappelle à Giroux sa promesse de don faite avant l’envoi à Venise. Il procède à un nouveau placement des tableaux au Musée moderne, regrette de n’avoir rien encore de Wouters. Une note du préparateur Denys datée 25.10.1930 est relative à la dégradation occasionnée au tableau lors du retour de prêt à l’exposition de Washington.
